Love It or Leave It: Eye Creams

Hope in a jar doesn’t come cheap for those looking to repair and protect the delicate skin around their eyes. From dark circles to fine lines to under eye puffiness, there are a bevy of products that promise to turn back the clock, or stop it all together.

But, only a handful of eye creams deliver on their promises to rejuvenate under eye skin.

Love It The Eyes Have It from Prescribed Solutions ($90) made me an eye cream believer. Once applied, the Vitamin K formula imparts a faint shimmer that instantly gives the appearance of brighter eyes. And, within just days, the skin under my eyes was firmer and my under eye puffiness was visibly reduced. This product makes good on its promise to reduce puffiness, dark circles and crow’s feet.

Leave It Anti-Oxidant Age Reverse Eye Cream from Neutrogena, ($19.99 at your local drugstore) has a lightweight formula and a nice scent that I loved. However, the fragrance was so strong that it made my eyes water and left me crying for something less irritating. “True Beauty” is a new reality show that will make it’s debut on ABC in January. The idea behind the show, as I understand it, is that contestants who are very “beautiful” will be judged on their inner and outer beauty.  

I’m not sure if I will watch the show, but I do think that it is a good idea and the fact that a show has been developed about this subject matter kinda tells the story of where we are as a society. Take a look at any magazine, most TV shows and even the news and without fail, the “beautiful” people are definitely in the majority. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how all of these “beautiful” people act off camera, out of the public eye? 

To be fair, we could all probably take a look at ourselves to have a “beauty check”. We get up in the morning, prepare for the day, and then check the mirror before we leave to make sure that we approve of how we look on the outside, but how often do we examine how we “look” on the  inside. 

I’ll be the first to admit that more often then not my “beauty check” finds me lacking in some areas. My view on beauty is, if I don’t think that I’m beautiful who will, right? However, I have come to realize that my inner beauty-how I treat people, my honesty, my integrity, my morals and all those other inner qualities that make me who I am can certainly outshine my “beauty” on any given day. 

In all fairness, this can’t just be about me, maybe it’s time for you to ask the question…
