Is There Power In A Word?

365-words-of-well-being-for-women-by-rachel-snyder Is There Power In A Word?We all know the power of words. They have the power to make us smile, to help us feel good about ourselves, to help us make decisions, to encourage us, but they also have the power to hurt, to discourage, to destroy.

A few years ago I purchased a book called 365 Words of Well-Being for Women by Rachel Snyder and it has led me on an amazing journey. Each word and the accompanying explanation serves to encourage all those who read.

As women, we tend to be the encouragers for our spouses, children, family members, friends, co-worker, but we also need to be encouraged.

We need to be told that we can achieve, that we should move, that we should act upon our dreams, that we should explore new things, express ourselves and the wonderful list  goes on and on.

Rachel Snyder says: “This is a book about freedom, filled with simple things you can do to grow and create and move and reweave the life that you yearn for, that you richly deserve. These are words to comfort and to invigorate, to nurture and to savor.”

Yes, there is power in words, so use these 365  words to empower yourself, to motivate you, to elevate yourself, to help you accomplish your dreams.

Do You Have the “P” Factor?

oprah-winfrey-with-barack-and-michelle-obama-300x237 Do You Have the P Factor?I was recently watching a television special about Oprah Winfrey and her “O” factor.

The experience has been that if she mentions your product, your name, your business, your book on her show, it typically means instant success for the lucky person or persons.

While you and I may not have the benefits of an “O” factor, we can use something that will make our lives just as successful- the “P” factor.

The “P” factor is the thinking “Positive” factor.

Ron Jensen, author of Taking the Lead has this to say about being positive:

  • Feel positive emotions
  • Thing positive thoughts
  • Focus on the positive in people
  • Offer positive prayers
  • Speak positive words
  • Practice positive actions

We’ve all heard about the power of positive thinking and hopefully if we put the famous adage “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” into practice, we’ll have our wildest dreams come true.

 I’m positive!!!!!!!

Is Your Account Overdrawn?

I’m not talking about your account at Bank One or Citicorp or Harris Bank. I am referring to your Emotionala-tired-woman Is Your Account Overdrawn? Bank Account, as Stephen Covey calls it in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. We all know that an account becomes overdrawn when there are more withdrawals than deposits made during a given time.

Today, right now as you sit and browse through the Savvy Woman website, is your emotional bank account overdrawn? Have you had more withdrawals today or this week than deposits? Think of withdrawals as your frustrations, your fears, your jealousies, your disappointments or your anger.

If you constantly have these withdrawals and not enough deposits such as laughter, quiet time, obtainable goals and gratitude moments, I know that your account is overdrawn. It is so easy, because of life itself, to be constantly overdrawn in our “emotional account”, but this month, each day, each hour, focus on having more deposits than withdrawals in your account.

It will probably take some time to get into the habit of focusing on the good in every situation rather than the bad. Try to do it in HIS power and not yours. Come on and try it, “you will like it.”
